CHILD OF GOD
Proverb 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not on your own understanding
My mom has a saying, ” We eat when we’re happy. We eat when we’re sad.”
I got my love for cooking from my mom. As far back as I can remember she was always cooking us scrumptious meals. I thank God for her always encouraging me to eat different types of foods. The result is a pallet that appreciates all types of foods. I have a special affinity for Asian foods; Thai, Chinese, Vietnamese, Korean are all on my list of favorites.
She was always a cook who prepared mounds and mounds of food. Her philosophy was no one should leave her house hungry. This heirloom has become quite handy in my functional life as a working mom. When I cook, I always prepare an abundant amount of food, which ends up as leftovers for the next day’s lunch or dinner.
She also takes great pride in the presentation of the meal. Being an avid garage sale shopper, she always picks me up great serving dishes and kitchen gadgets. I look around my kitchen today and smile when I reflect on the many items that help make preparing food a pleasure; so many are gifts from her.
My mom is extremely generous with her time and talents. She has taught me so much over the years. I now cook with my daughter. She and I can spend hours in the kitchen slicing and dicing. The preparation is almost as fun as eating the end product. We turn on some music and sing our way through new and exciting dishes. Sharing time in the kitchen with your loved ones is priceless. Be sure to savor every minute of the process; even washing the dishes!
My mom’s pleasure in making guests feel welcome with a meal prepared with love was infectious. I get the greatest satisfaction knowing that someone loves the food they experience when visiting my home. Everyone always leaves asking if they can get the recipe of what I’ve prepared. I’m always glad to share. This blog is going to make that sharing much easier. Now i can just tell my friends and family where they can find the instructions to recreate the magic in their own homes.
Thanks for joining me on this food blog journey. Drop me a line to say hello and tell me about your love of cooking.
